Desde las primeras imágenes que desarollé (incluso en la temprana adolescencia) he venido abordando, primero inconscientemente, y ahora como producto del estudio y la comprensión de mis más ímtimos temores, el tema de la soledad.
La soledad como inmenso miedo del hombre a no ser comprendido, a no ser respetado y en definitiva a no ser “completado”.
Este miedo a la soledad que ahora entiendo como “Horror Vacui” o “Miedo al Vacío” se manifiesta en mis escritos y en mis imágenes de maneras aparentemente distintas.
Cuando la imagen ocupa la dimensión del tiempo y el espacio en la forma de video, este Horror Vacui se desdobla (como lo hacen mis poemas) transitando caminos de absurda coherencia e irrespeto puro a las nociones tradicionales de la narración, en cuanto secuencia temporal y espacial, donde “el otro” aparece siempre como desdoblamiento del ser o como “fantasma”.
La imagen atrapada en la bidimensionalidad de mis fotografías manifiesta, en cambio, las varias capas del sujeto, mostradas como una identidad múltiple que se desdobla, multiplica y estalla en ecos y reflejos dentro de una faceta corporal que, finalmente, termina siempre siendo otra vez una, evidenciando siempre la ausencia de “el otro”.
La presencia del ser y de su cuerpo, como manifestación física de la identidad propia, cohabita tanto en la imagen multidimensional del video como en la imagen bidimensional de las fotografias; conivirtiéndose ambas expresiones en la manifestación sensorial de las ideas concretas de mis textos (poemas) en los que todo el trabajo audiovisual se inspira, para evolucionar en un medio propio que, finalmente, no necesita de muletas pero que se vale del recurso escrito (y a veces oral) de un texto que parece absurdo, pero que resguarda los secretos a voces de una humanidad que lucha por sobrevivir, a sabiendas de que la única certeza final es la no realización del sueño de encontrar esa otra mitad que nos falta, desde el momento del nacimiento hasta el momento de la muerte.
Es así que eros se asoma constantemente esbozando atisbos de una necesidad que toma tantas formas como la experiencia humana hace posible, siendo este componente un hilo más de una telaraña que nos hipnotiza y atrapa a lo largo de un continuo en el espacio y el tiempo que recorremos durante ad infinitum.
La diveridad sexual es además referencia permanente y objeto de estudio, exploración, desafío.
Solitude has been always a theme in my work. Since the fist images I created in my teens, I´ve made my deepest fears a source of inspiration. Unconsciously at the beginning and now days as a result of my research.
Solitude as a huge fear of mankind for not been understood; not to be respected; not to be ¨completed¨.
That fear I now call ¨Horror Vacui” or ¨Fear to the emptiness¨, expresses itself in my writings and my images in so many ways.
When an image inhabits time and space in the shape of a video, the Horror Vacui unfolds (as my poems do) going ways where narrative laws are broken. Is then when the presence of ¨the other one¨ appears as a ¨ghost.
The trapped image of my photos, shows instead, the multiple layers of the “subject” reflected as a multiple identity opening and exploding like reverberations of images and sounds to finally return to become one, making always evident the absence of “the other one”.
The human body, as the physical manifestation of one identity, share its existence both in the multidimensional image of the video as in the bi dimensional image of the photos. Both phenomenons are a vivid manifestation of the subjacent ideas on my writing, from where the multimedia work comes alive to become a medium itself. A medium that needs no crutches but that have learned to be nurtured by another, keeping the nutrients of a text that seems absurd, but holds the secrets of a humanity that struggles to survive, knowing that there is just un certain thing: the impossibility to make the true the dream of finding your “other half”. That complement that is missing since we are borne and we will never find.
Eros will show up now and then, making sketches of a vast variety of human needs and desires. Like a spider he will make threads to entrap and hypnotize us in a space and time continuum that we will walk ad infinitum.
Sexual diversity is always a reference and a perpetual study subject, research interest and challenging provocation.
